The Australian Surrogacy Podcast Episode 77: Madeline. Madeline was a gestational surrogate in NSW, for intended parents who lived a few hours away.
Madeline had a rollercoaster journey – including a false start with different intended parents, new intended parents, positive pregnancy tests, surprise twin pregnancy, then subsequent pregnancy loss. The team recovered and went on to have baby Micah earlier this year. When we recorded this interview, Madeline was at the end of the fourth trimester, so it was all fresh in her mind and she was able to talk candidly about her experiences of the pregnancy, birth and beyond.
Some things that we talked about included:
- Planning a surrogacy birth.
. - How it feels to give away a baby – and particularly when the intended parents have to go back home.
. - Recognising the feelings of the third trimester, which I discussed with surrogacy counsellor Katrina Hale on the Podcast.
. - The feelings and roller coaster that is the fourth trimester, which I also discussed on the Podcast with Katrina.
