The Surrogacy Podcast 23: Rachel. Rachel pursued surrogacy in Queensland. This is Part 1 in a 3-part episode with Rachel. Rachel has delivered 5 babies for their intended parents, including twins for a gay couple as a traditional surrogate, and three babies for two other sets of intended parents both as a gestational surrogate and a traditional surrogate.

In this episode, Rachel tells her story of starting as an egg donor, and then as a traditional surrogate. There were many bumps in the road, but Rachel’s tenacity and strength are inspiring. Rachel was excited to discover that Queensland had introduced surrogacy laws and took the opportunity to become a surrogate.

You can listen to Part 2, and Part 3 of Rachel’s story, and also her partner Simon in Episode 57, and intended mother Marian in Episode 59.

If you are new to surrogacy, you can read about how to find a surrogate, or how to become a surrogate yourself. You can also download the free Surrogacy Handbook which explains the processes and options.

If you are in Queensland, you can find out about Queensland surrogacy laws. Other states have their own surrogacy laws.

Sarah has published a book, More Than Just a Baby: A Guide to Surrogacy for Intended Parents and Surrogates, the only guide to surrogacy in Australia.
