I am excited to announce the launch of the Australian & New Zealand Association of Fertility and Surrogacy Professionals (ANZAFSP), bringing together lawyers and counsellors working across the fertility, donor conception and surrogacy fields across Australia and New Zealand.
The launch of the Association marks an important moment for everyone working in this space, and for the communities and families we support.
The Association has been a long time in the making. It began as an idea that while fertility and surrogacy professionals are deeply committed to best practice, we often work in silos. Lawyers and counsellors play critical roles, yet there has been no single, multidisciplinary body bringing us together across Australia and New Zealand.
The Association of Fertility and Surrogacy Professionals is the result of that vision. I am incredibly proud to be a founding director and the inaugural President, and to see what started as a concept grow into a collaborative, forward-looking professional community.
At its core, ANZAFSP is about connection and consistency. Surrogacy and assisted reproduction involve complex legal, emotional, ethical and medical considerations. When professionals work together, sharing knowledge, setting standards, and supporting one another, we create better, safer experiences for intended parents, surrogates, donors and, ultimately, children.
For me, the Association of Fertility and Surrogacy Professionals is more than a professional milestone – it is something I have believed was needed for a long time. To now see it come to life, with such a committed group of professionals, is incredibly rewarding.
I am excited about what we can achieve and want to extend my thanks to the community of professionals ready to work together. My thanks to colleagues Amanda Monteith, Ben Sayer, Margaret Casey Kc, Rebecca Kerner, Simone Cureton, Sarah-Jayne Duryea, Sarah Nowoweiski and Sonja Goedeke for helping to make this happen.
If you are looking for a counsellor or lawyer to assist with fertility, donor conception or surrogacy, Full Members of the Association are highly experienced and skilled, respected by their colleagues and well regarded across the professions.
