The Surrogacy Podcast Episode 13: Marnie. Marnie is a cancer survivor and underwent a hysterectomy. She’s  now considering surrogacy as an option to grow her family. As a cancer survivor, she’s been through more challenges than most, but she has tenacity and resilience and keeps her sense of humour along the way. Marnie values family above everything else, and her support system is testament to that. Marnie has some great insights for people considering surrogacy and leaning on the friendships you can build in the community.

If you are new to surrogacy in Australia, you can start with this post which takes you through the steps depending where you are up to.

Marnie is in Victoria, so the Victorian surrogacy laws apply in her situation. You can read more about the laws that apply to you – the laws of the State where the intended parents live apply in each situation.

Many women who survive cancer consider surrogacy to grow their family. There are other single intended parents pursuing surrogacy, including Phillipa and Ric who both shared their stories for the Podcast.

Sarah has published a book, More Than Just a Baby: A Guide to Surrogacy for Intended Parents and Surrogates, the only guide to surrogacy in Australia.

You can find more information in the free Surrogacy Handbook, reading articles in the Blog, by listening to more episodes of the Surrogacy Podcast. You can also book in for a consult with me below, and check out the legal services I provide.
